When the thumb becomes bent beyond its usual range of motion, damages will occur to the ligaments. If the injury happens to be only a mild sprain, properly taping the thumb will help ensure a safe return to athletics
STEP 1: Apply underwrap to the wrist and hand STEP 2: Apply an anchor at the base of the thumb, bringing the tape up and over the hand, and then taking it across the palm so that it passes between the thumb and second finger. STEP 3: Use additional cover strips to support STEP 4: Using adhesive tape, tear it through the middle to create 2 pieces that are Inches in length. STEP 5: Using the “half-width” begin by placing it at the wrist, wrap it around the thumb and end at the outside of the hand. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE THUMB. Repeat this twice. STEP 6: Once again, begin at the base of the thumb, over the hand, across the palm passing it between the thumb and second finger. End by bringing the tape around, finishing at the anchor.
