In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to balance nutrition with physical activity. Getting involved in activities where you are pumping blood throughout the body constantly will benefit your health in several ways. For somebody who is looking for something easy, but efficient you could:
Play tennis
Do water aerobics
Golf
Dance
Biking
Canoeing
Walking (for maybe 3.5 miles per hour!)
If you are somebody looking for a way to improve your fitness rate, some activities could be:
Running
Swimming
Aerobics
Competitive basketball
Biking (more than 10 miles an hour)
Speed walking (4.5 miles per hour)
Don’t feel obligated to pick three things from each list, as you do not need to overwork your body. Pick one or two things that best fits your routines/schedules throughout the week. If you are somebody looking to increase fitness but only have so much time, maybe going for a walk every morning and going for a swim every evening will benefit you more than an aerobics class. Pushing yourself past a certain line where your body can no longer hold it, can create injury to your body and mental health. Don’t feel the need to run for three hours during your first week of actually committing to physical activity, as if you are not used to doing this intense of a run, you may tire your muscles out to the point where they no longer want to work for you. Take things slow, and work at your own pace. People of all shapes and sizes (disability or not), can benefit from any type of physical activity. As people grow older, their metabolism lowers and becomes slower causing energy to store away, and become fat.
When starting a routine with physical activity, keep in mind that for the best results a healthy eating life is crucial as well! Nutrition and physical activity work hand in hand when working on a healthier lifestyle. If you are somebody who plays lots of athletics, it is important to be constantly feeding your body energy (HEALTHY ENERGY OF COURSE!), but if you are somebody who just has time for a yoga class/30 minute jog, feeding your body a right amount of food is better than overfeeding and storing energy away.
Here are ways being physically active can benefit you:
You will sleep well
Decreased chances of becoming depressed
Self confidence increases
Increased chances of living a longer life
Move around easier
Stay within a healthy weight
If you aren’t physically active, you are more at risk of:
Developing a heart disease
Developing type 2 diabetes
Having high blood pressure
Having high cholesterol
Having a stroke
Overall, try to get in some type of physical activity throughout your day! You will feel a lot less drowsy and upset! I promise!
